Entertainment, entertainment!

Entertainment, entertainment!
Dickens Festival resumes Friday

By CHERYL ODDEN

Don’t feel bad if you missed the first weekend of Garrison’s Dickens Village Festival. The second weekend of the annual event is sure to help get you in the holiday spirit.
Over the past year, festival organizers have worked hard to ensure a great lineup of entertainment.
The Dixie Cups, a past favorite, will be returning to the stage of the Kota Theater. The trio of entertainers – Jeanine Brown, Melanie Mewes and Deb Davis – will provide a medley of music – punctuated with good old-fashioned humor. Their show includes old classics, country, gospel favorites and tunes from the 50s and 60s as well as more current songs.
Over the past 19 years, the funny and talented friends have performed in communities across North Dakota. Credited with “an attitude of gratitude,” the Dixie Cups enjoy putting on a great show. Tickets $5) for the 2 p.m., Friday performance will be sold at the door.
Saturday’s Magic Lantern Show is both new and unique. The show tours around the world to delight audiences in places like Singapore, New York City and Garrison, North Dakota.
The Magic Lantern Show uses projected colored images, live drama, music and comedy to recreate Victorian magic lantern shows that were popular in the late 1800s.
