Entrepreneur Expo is sell-out event

Entrepreneur students participating in March 4 Entrepreneur Expo in Underwood learned a lot about supply and demand. Several of the business “owners” found themselves running out of inventory, followed by a quick run to a local store to pick up more supplies to create more inventory, to feed the masses at the expo.
The proprietors of Underwood’s S & S Shack, a Gold Award winner, which specialized in ice cream shakes, made multiple trips to a grocery store to pick up more ice cream so they could keep serving up shakes to their customers.
The same can be said for the proprietors of Bronze Award winners, Lu & the Three Amigos, which sold out of its quesadillas and nachos early, sending the owners out to purchase more tortillas and cheese.
The proprietors of Gold Award winning Lovely Lollipops were nearly sold out of every flavor of their 50-cent suckers early in the day, and Turtle Lake-Mercer’s Grace Goven, owner/operator of Gracie’s Scrunchies, was sold out of all of her $1 homemade scrunchies before noon.
White Shield’s GG Customs, a Silver Award winner, was busy giving hands-on demonstrations showing before and after results of their shoe-cleaning business, wowing their customers with the quality of their cleaning product.
The businesses’ creators were all interviewed by judges, who also examined their business plans, before determining the gold, silver, bronze and participation award winners. The event is sponsored by the McLean County Commission and American Bank Center, which provides the prize money for the young entrepreneurs.
