Equalization process under review

Equalization process under review
By STU MERRY
City officials say they have a beef with McLean County when it comes to how the county handled board of equalization meetings for the City of Garrison.
That’s why the city council has requested that its attorney, Paul Temanson, review the 2009 Garrison city and McLean County Board of Equalization published minutes. The purpose is to determine if the county Board of Equalization violated items in the North Dakota Century Code.
City officials want the minutes reviewed to see if there was a violation in reference to increases in city assessments.
Alderman Richard Lehnherr, told fellow council members Monday night he doesn’t think county officials followed the law when handling the revaluation of property earlier this year. Lehnherr maintains residents should have been notified by the county of the evaluation increases.
