Final Dickens weekend begins Friday

Final Dickens weekend begins Friday

While some Garrison retailers are smiling, others seem a bit disappointed. Even so, they are optimistic that the final weekend of Garrison’s annual Dickens Village Festival will help boost their bottom lines.
In general, most Garrison retailers seem pleased with Saturday sales. Fridays – not so good!
Among those who claim the above scenario are Brenda Bauer, owner of This, That ‘N More and Jeanna Severance, owner of Flowers ‘N Things. Bauer said people seem less interested in giftware items this year. Leaning toward practical presents, Bauer said Pride of Dakota products have been selling well.
Severance said she has enjoyed three good sales days. In addition to the two Saturdays, she said business was brisk on Nov. 28, the only Sunday of the festival. Like other business owners, Severance said that weather seemed to be a factor for festival attendance this past Friday.
