GARRISON – The Garrison Fire Department will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 9-15. The week begins with the Firemen’s Breakfast, which will be held Sunday, Oct. 9 at the Garrison Fire Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a menu including biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. Then, during the week, the firefighters will provide education to students in the Garrison area. On Monday, one child from each class at Bob Callies Elementary School will be selected and given a ride to school in a firetruck. That same morning, the firefighters will have breakfast with the students, explained Mike Matteson with the Garrison Fire Department. Tours of the Firefighter Museum, as well as classroom presentations focusing on this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme – “Fire won’t wait, plan
your escape” – will be held sometime during the week, Mattison said. The week ends with the North Dakota Firefighters Museum Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Oct. 15.
