White Shield family donates toward sheriff department’s narcotics dogs

WASHBURN – An act of kindness three years ago has come full circle to the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, who benefited from the generosity of a White Shield family recently. The addition of two K9 units to the department stemmed from something the Sheriff’s Office did three years ago when it gave a hero’s escort to the grandson of Don and Delilah Yellowbird of White Shield. “He was an angel,” Yellowbird said about her grandson, Zephyr Will Atchison, who died in 2019 when he was six months old. Soon after he was born, Atchison was airlifted to the University of Minneapolis Masonic Children’s Hospital, where he remained for six months.
