Framework in place

The skeleton of a comprehensive plan for the City of Garrison is in place. The framework was assembled Monday night at the Garrison Senior Citizens Center.
Public input from the initial comprehensive plan meeting was reviewed. Monday’s meeting provided another opportunity to provide input regarding the development of goals, objectives, and policies. In addition, two alternative future land use maps of Garrison were presented and discussed.
Facilitating the meeting were Scott Harmstead and Christopher Clanahan with SRF Consulting Group.
Reviewing results from the index card exercise from the first meeting, the two noted some marked interesting results: 29 percent said community involvement was highly valued.
How would you describe Garrison? Topping the list was "progressive" and "friendly."
One thing those who attended the initial meeting didn’t like was a lack of community communication and a shared vision.
"The key is to be on the same page," Harmstead said.
