From a good old Kansas farm girl to a Garrison minister

GARRISON – After spending last Christmas eating dinner alone at a Sonic, Rev. Sue Williams realized that she needed to make a change for the better. It was then that she came to the realization that “it’s time I spent some time with my family," she said.
Not long after, Williams decided to leave her church in Springfield, Missouri, and move to North Dakota to be closer to her son and three grandchildren. “I came up here not knowing what I was going to do,” she said. While it almost seemed as though the minister would retire, those plans faded. Upon moving to North Dakota, she contacted the United Church of Christ’s Northern Plain Conference “to tell them I was here” to transfer her standing. It was then that Williams was informed of a church – First Congregational Church in Garrison – in need of a minister. “I said, ‘Yeah, give them my name and I’ll talk to them,” Williams said.
