Two annual events will be held next week in Garrison and both are open to the public.
On Monday, the Garrison Area Improvement Association (GAIA) will hold its annual meeting at The Meadows assisted living center. The informal meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include refreshments. The public is welcome to attend and to offer input and suggestions. Also on the agenda is election of three board members to fill seats that will be open.
During Monday’s Garrison Chamber of Commerce meeting, Steve Brannan, a member of BLFG, reminded chamber members that the meeting location (The Meadows) was chosen since the center was built as a pilot BLFG with support from GAIA. Now that The Meadows project is complete, Brannan asked, “What’s next for the community?” He added, “We don’t want the excitement to grow stale (for future BLFG projects).”
Another community event, set for Saturday, Jan. 30, is the Garrison Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards banquet. Tickets to attend the 6:30 p.m. event can be purchased at Garrison City Hall.
Looking forward to February, Bruce Schreiner, Garrison fire chief, announced that the Garrison Fire Department’s annual buffalo feed will be Feb. 20. Tickets can be purchased at the N.D. Firefighter’s Museum, Garrison State Bank & Trust, S & J Hardware, Rensch Farm Store, Chase Pharmacy and BHG.
