Garrison city council reorganizes
Jeffers and Diff ely named president, vice president of council

There was a change in office last Tuesday evening as incoming members Shannon Jeffers and Bree Diffely stepped into their roles and outgoing members Paul Schlichting and Maria Olson stepped down. During a special meeting of the council to reorganize, city auditor Diane Affeldt read the abstract of the city election, which detailed the results of the June 14 election. According to the abstract, Stu Merry received 248 votes for mayor. In the election for three city council members, Jeffers received 233 votes, Diffely received 229 votes and Reinarts, the incumbent, received 202 votes. Cecil Osterlund also received 86 votes and there were 14 scattered write-in votes. After the city council accepted the
abstract, Schlichting and Olson stepped down.
