Giving gifts, from the heart

GARRISON – It was the calm before the storm – the storm, that is, of families in need coming through the line at the food pantry – on Saturday morning as the food distribution portion of Gifts from the Heart commenced at the Garrison Area Resource Center. The annual distribution of food and gifts to families in need faced some bumps, such as rescheduling to accommodate the blizzard; originally, the food
distribution was to take place last Thursday, but it got moved to Saturday, once families were able to get out of the house once again.
Inside the food pantry, volunteers worked fastidiously to load carts up with food and other items, while food pantry coordinator Dawn Kolden was outside helping with the intake.
