Giving Hearts Day brings in big bucks

Giving Hearts Day brings in big bucks

It was a tough competition until the very end. But in a surprise upset, Chad Betz from RTC became the clear winner of the Pie in the Face competition sponsored by Garrison Bank and Trust on Giving Hearts Day last Thursday.
Betz’s win may have had something to do with the $200 check Garrison Superintendent Nick Klemisch added to Betz bucket minutes before the time to donate ran out.
Not all was lost. After Betz took a pie to the face, courtesy of Bobbie Krueger, more money was offered up and Klemisch also received a pie.
Including with the bank’s matching donation, Garrison State Bank was able to donate around $6,000 to Camp of the Cross.
“We kicked off the event with a $5,000 donation from Marlene and Lynn Grabow of Bismarck,” Camp of the Cross Director Janis Sloka said.
Camp of the Cross received over $1,400 from Cottingham Insurance through its employee match program.
Donations were also collected online and checks were sent to the bank ahead of time.
