Governor's Cup time

Fishing tournament celebrates 40 years

By NICOLE STEELE

The 40th Annual N.D. Governor’s Walleye Cup Fishing Tournament is this weekend.

More than 500 fishermen from across the state and region have flocked to Garrison in anticipation of a fun weekend of fishing. It’s hard to say what will happen this weekend as fishing is always a guessing game.

With the top prize of $10,000 and bragging rights for the Governor’s Cup on the line, many fishermen will be using their favorite bait and family traditions in hopes of reeling in that big walleye.

Joyce Pfliger, member of the N.D. Governor’s Cup Committee, mentioned, "This year we have some pretty amazing prizes up for drawing at registration."

This year, the tournament has a full slate of 252 teams. Many teams are from North Dakota but others are represented.
