Having warm thoughts at the KOTA Theater

GARRISON – Sakakawea Area Council for the Arts is about a quarter of the way to funding a new furnace system for the SACA KOTA Theater. As of Dec. 21, SACA had raised $13,250 of the $53,000 needed to purchase the heating mechanism for the theater. Bree Diffely, a member of the SACA board who is co-coordinating fundraising efforts, explained that the new heater is needed to replace an antiquated heating system the theater currently possesses. “Looking at it, I think it’s probably older than I am,” she said with a laugh.
Affixed to the system is a sticker showing hand-written dates of service; at the top of the list, though quite faded, is a date from 1984.
“It’s a pretty inefficient unit," Diffely said. "For the time, I’m sure it was as good as it gets, but the way it’s been patchworked throughout the years, it’s been inefficient.” Problems with the furnace cropped up earlier this year when the furnace went out.
