Heritage Center to unveil N.D. Newspaper Hall of Fame

Hall to be dedicated to Don Gackle

The new, electronic North Dakota Newspaper Hall of Fame will be unveiled May 2 in dedication ceremonies at the North Dakota Heritage Center.

The opening this year of the $51.7 million addition to the Heritage Center is a highlight of the 125th anniversary of North Dakota statehood, and the Newspaper Hall of Fame will be one of the center’s new features, celebrating the distinguished service of 51 North Dakota newspaper men and women.

The Hall of Fame will be dedicated to the memory of the late Don Gackle, the 47th inductee, in recognition of his long leadership of NDNA and his leadership of and philanthropy to the NDNA Education Foundation.

Gackle was editor and publisher of the McLean County Independent in Garrison and founder of BHG Inc., which now publishes 11 community newspapers in the state.
