Housing authority to add twin-townhouse

Housing authority to add twin-townhouse
By STU MERRY

There will be a new twin-unit townhouse built in Garrison this summer, and the possibility exists that at least two homes will be erected in an area of northeast Garrison called the Bicentennial Addition.
Bottom line – It looks like it’s shaping up to be another busy construction season around Garrison.
At Monday’s meeting of the Garrison City Council, Mike Matteson and Bill Iglehart, both members of the Garrison Housing Authority, requested and received support for its endeavor to move forward with plans to build the twin home. The structure will be built near the existing four-unit town home in northeast Garrison.
Iglehart said the housing authority feels there is a need for additional housing. Matteson told council members that because of the diverse interest, both units being planned would be three-bedroom units.
Regarding a time frame for completion, Matteson said the authority hopes to have the twin-townhouse ready for occupancy by early 2011.
Iglehart said unlike the first unit, which was built by an out-of-town firm, F&L Development of Luverne, Minn., that used out-of-town contractors, the new twin-townhouse will be built using local entities.
