How the Giffey’s turned grief into a mission filled with purpose and impact

Garrison - “He was very loving, giving and caring. He absolutely loved being around people,” said Colette Giffey, mother of Curtis Giffey. “He enjoyed sports, cooking, movies, and music. He was the kind of person that was there for family, friends, and coworkers helping them in any way he could.”
After the passing of their son, Colette and Kelly Giffey wanted to honor Curtis in a way they believed he would appreciate.
What began as a memorial golf tournament in 2018 has grown into a non-profit organization that continues to give back to the community.
“The first three years of having our tournament was simply to remember Curt with family and friends,” Curtis’s mother Colette said. “We wanted it to include his favorites- family, friends, food and fun. We decided that we needed some good to come out of our tragedy.”
The Giffeys initially donated the proceeds to Make-A-Wish because Curtis loved to give gifts. They also purchased new chairs and tables for the Garrison Golf Course.
