It’s a family thing

It’s a family thing

In small towns everyone seems to be related to everyone.
But there is one extreme case that’s about as unusual as a grand spam. Of the 16-member Titans team, half of the guys are related to each other. There are three sets of brothers, and one set of cousins, including the coach. Head Coach Luke Gehring coaches his younger cousin Gage Gerhing.
“I’ve been lucky enough to coach Gage, and a lot of these boys, in the last three seasons in both high school and summer ball,” said Gehring. “Gage is very coachable and works hard, just like the rest of the kids. This is a fun group.”
Nephew Gage had great things to say about playing for his uncle also.
“It’s fun because we’ve known each other for so long,” said Gage. “And baseball is how we’ve built our connection.”
Then there is the set of three brothers: Nashton Wimer, Dawson Wimer and Braxton Iglehart, who all play on the team together.
“Having the three of us together is a special experience,” said Nashton. “The difference from recent years to this year is our willingness to put in work, especially when we get on a roll during games and being a good role model for all of my siblings and the younger guys on our team. I’m so fortunate to have both Dawson and Braxton on the team in my final year of Legion.”
Youngest brother Braxton said “It’s been a good experience and a great honor. The older boys have taught me so much without giving me too much grief. They keep me competitive and push me to be my best even if I strike out or make mistakes.”
