Kerzmann elected sheriff

 

Krebsbach new commissioner

JR Kerzmann is the new McLean County Sheriff. Doug Krebsbach is the new McLean County commissioner.

Kerzmann outdistanced fellow deputy sheriff Curt Olson by 317 votes. Kerzmann received 2,302 votes, or 53.39 percent, to Olson’s 1,985 votes, or 46.03 percent. Kerzmann will replace 16-year veteran sheriff Don Charging who is retiring.

Krebsbach handily defeated current District 1 commissioner Pam Link 2,581, or 61.45 percent, to 1,610 votes, or 38.33 percent.

Unofficially, more than 4,300 ballots were cast in the county. The largest voter turnout in recent history came in 2012 when 4,976 ballots were cast. That was also a presidential election year.

Four county officials ran unopposed. District 3 Commissioner Steve Lee received 3,698 votes.
