Kota Theater nears milestone

By STU MERRY

In the next few weeks, the Kota Theater in Garrison will set a milestone – the half-a-million-dollar mark in gross ticket sales.

To SACA officials, that’s pretty remarkable.

Theater Committee co-chairs Dick Hendrickson and Jim Robinson said support for the theater has been overwhelming since the beginning, when the theater opened in 1993.

"It shows great support," Hendrickson said. "Lots of people appreciate the theater and come here."

To date, 741 movies have shown on the big screen. Since 1993, more than 141,000 tickets have been sold.

To celebrate the occasion, at the movie where $500,000 in gross ticket sales is reached, SACA will give away an iPad mini to an adult and to a child who are in attendance.

Also, through May, moviegoers will get a free bag of popcorn when they attend a Kota movie.
