The GHS girls played at Kenmare which was covered in last week’s McLean County Independent.
But Girls Golf Head Coach Mark Harris added, “For their first meet of the season it was an ok showing. (Wildwood) was a new course for them. It was very hilly and tough to walk.”

In the first of two visits last week to Wildwood Golf Course in Burlington, eighth-grader Piper Ziemann shot a personal record of 41 (+8) in the 9-hole tournament on Wednesday morning. Marli Lilim from Williams County placed second with a 47 (+14).
“(It was) another course the girls hadn’t played before but both Miley and Piper played very well,” Harris said. “Piper won the junior high division with a 41 and Miley finishing second in the junior varsity division with a 53. Both scores are personal bests; they were both pretty happy with their results.”
On Hole 6, which is a 250+ yard, par 4, Ziemann ripped her tee shot and drove the green.
“I was thinking that was crazy, I didn’t think I’d be able to do that,” Ziemann said. “I didn’t think it would stick!”
