Lake homes getting new addresses

Lake homes getting new addresses
By CHERYL ODDEN

Tim Stockdill, a resident of LakeView Estates southeast of Garrison, has lived at the same location for the past 30 years. Even so, he said his address has changed several times. Effective March 1, he will have yet another new address. Stockdill, like some of his neighbors, has a question. “Why?”
Shelly Fuller, who lives with her husband Aaron on 41st Ave. NW, said their address was to have changed to Estate Road. But, after contacting county officials, neighbors were able to arrive at a consensus. The street will be called Marina View.
“It was nice to have a say, and I feel bad that people who didn’t contact him (Todd Schreiner, county EM/E-911/CVSO coordinator) probably didn’t know they would have a say,” she said.
Fuller shared that a neighbor, who had just received six boxes of checks, will soon have useless checks as the address will be wrong.
Fuller said she understands the need for the change, saying as the area continues to develop, it will be necessary to distinguish each portion of the road. But, she added, “It was quite a rushed deal, as we had about one month’s notice that our addresses will change.”
Michelle Gehring, one of the residents who will receive a new address, said she hopes the change is a progressive decision. She said she thinks it is imperative to have street signs.
