Let the chips fall

Street work to begin

By STU MERRY

Street chip sealing will begin in the next few days in Garrison. ASTECH Corporation is in charge of the project. City officials said the streets to be chip sealed are areas that have seen street overlays. An announcement is forthcoming on streets that will be affected.

Bechtold Paving will also start street milling and overlay work on other streets later this month. That work will carry into August.

In another maintenance matter, Jessen Roofing has completed repairs on the city auditorium roof seams. Jessen officials speculate they will be back to do repairs on the fire hall in about six weeks.

Hydro-Klean has completed its sanitary sewer cleaning and televising.

Brian Julius with Moore Engineering said some "glaring issues" were found as well as some areas where lines were better than expected.

"At least we know where they are and it’s not as bad as we thought," Julius said.

The video will be sent to the city for review.

Nygard Construction is set to replace the sanitary sewer main on Fifth Avenue NW at the high school east to the alley between First Street and Second Street NE this month.
