Lockers open for business

Lockers open for business

After-hours delivery available for Garrison retailers

Garrison businesses have a new way to get goods to customers, even when doors are closed.
Otto Kinn give attendees of Monday’s Chamber meeting of the city’s newest delivery option -- a smart locker system located off of Main Street, at the corner of 1st Avenue Southeast.  The system, which is currently being offered for free to businesses, utilizes a digital keypad that controls each locker through the use of custom QR codes.
“As a business, you get your own carrier code to input,” Kinn said during his presentation Monday.
Kinn said registered businesses access the locker bay through their personal code, chose recipient information and package size, and are then given access to a secure locker.
“The recipient gets a text message … and uses the code from the text message,” Kinn said. “They scan the code and open the locker.”
Kinn said users are also able to download an app that will notify them of packages available for pick up.
The locker system is currently available to any Garrison business wanting to deposit items for later pick up, an option that provides several opportunities for retailers.
“It offers a free extension of your services,” Kinn said. “It lets you have after-hours pick up, or even contactless pick up.”
