Holiday campaign to begin

Gifts from the Heart and the Giving Tree benefit local residents in need.
Now, its coordinators want to do something more. Rev. Dick and Sue Hendrickson are planning to expand the program this year to include those affected by the Minot flood.
The Gifts from the Heart campaign provides Christmas food baskets for less fortunate families in the Garrison area. Donated non-perishable food items are gathered through various means. The Giving Tree offers area residents the opportunity to purchase a Christmas gift for an individual anonymously.
If you need a box or know of someone, call so we can send information to them,” said Dick Hendrickson. “We would be glad to send info to anyone who needs a basket that has been affected by the flood. We want to include them.”
Letters were sent out to past recipients Nov. 1. Giving trees will be set up Nov. 25. In order to get the information out to prospective families and have them returned, the Hendricksons request that people contact them quickly as it takes time to get the information compiled for the baskets and Giving Trees.
