Max woman charged with theft, forgery

After her initial appearance, a McLean County woman faces alleged theft and forgery charges after her victim claims she stole money from a relative in Max.
Shannon Olson, 62, has been charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult, theft of property, forgery (all Class A felonies), and unauthorized use of identifying information (a Class B felony).
According to an affidavit in the case prepared by McLean County Sheriff’s Deputy Bradley Nielson, which was obtained through a public records request through District Court 28 in McLean County, Olson allegedly stole more than $250,000 since July of 2020 from an account knowing the victim is an eligible adult who lacked the capacity to consent and with the intent to deprive the victim of funds.
In 2019, the victim’s husband died leaving their son as power of attorney on the victim's accounts.
