McLean County residents turn out to vote

McLean County voters turned out in droves to vote in Tuesday’s General Election.
McLean County has a total of 7,471 eligible voters county voters cast ballots this year, either by vote-by-mail or at the polls. A total of 5,534 turned out to vote.
All vote tallies are from McLean County only and are preliminary results.
Incumbent County Commissioners Barry Suydam and Steve Cottingham ran unopposed and were both re-elected.
The District 4 State Senate race saw GOP choice incumbent Jordan Kannianen was elected over Democratic-NPL challenger Lisa Finley-DeVille. 
On the District 4 House side, both Republican candidates were elected. Clayton Fegley and Terry Burton Jones will be heading to Bismarck. 
The local legislative District 8 House race was an interesting one with Republican candidate David Andahl elected posthumously, meaning his party will decide his replacement. Dave Nehring was the other candidate elected to District 8. 
Two constitutional measures were on the ballot.
Measure 1 - This constitutional measure would amend and reenact subsections 2 and 6 of section 6 of Article VIII of the North Dakota Constitution relating to the state board of higher education. This measure failed in McLean County 3,937 to 1,218. 
Measure 2 –This constitutional measure would amend and reenact section 9 of Article III of the North Dakota Constitution. This measure failed by a vote of 3,284 to 1,790.
