McLean in top 10 for traffic fatalities

McLean County has the dubious distinction of being in the top 10 when it comes to traffic fatalities in 2015.

According to statistics from the North Dakota Department of Transportation, six people died on McLean County roads. Those six were involved in four accidents. All were single vehicle rollovers.

According to the NDDOT, nearly all were not seatbelted in. Drivers in those four fatal accidents were driving too fast for road conditions. Half were alcohol related.

There were 131 traffic fatalities in North Dakota in 2015. Traffic fatalities in 2014 totaled 135. According to the NDDOT, 2012 saw the most traffic deaths – 170; 2011 and 2013 – 148 each.
