Motor grader bids received

Motor grader bids received
By STU MERRY

A pair of new motor graders will be rumbling down county roads in the near future. At their meeting Dec. 4, county commissioners reviewed two proposals. Bids were received from RDO Equipment and Butler Machine.
RDO Equipment presented bids on two different grader options. One option was a 2013 John Deere 770G for $201,000. The price does not include options, which were available. The seconded model was a 2013 John Deere 770GP at a cost of $214,000 outright with additional costs for options.
Butler Machinery representatives submitted a bid for new Caterpillar 140M2 graders at a cost of $236,210 outright with additional costs for add-ons. Butler Machinery also submitted a bid for a 2013 Caterpillar 140M2 for $245,420 outright with additional costs for attachments.
Highway Department Superintendent Ron Wagner will review bids and return to Tuesday’s meeting with a recommendation.
In other highway department matters, Wagner told commissioner Steve Lee and new member Barry Suydam he attended a NDDOT vehicle sale. He was looking for a half-ton pickup for the county, but opted to pass on what was offered.
“There were too many junkers there,” he said.
But Wagner said he did purchase a 2006 Ford Explorer for the county.
