N.D. Firefighter memorial is in place

N.D. Firefighter memorial is in place

By STU MERRY

A new monument on Garrison’s Main Street pays tribute to the firefighters who gave their lives serving others.
Dan Craig and his son Zach put the final pieces in place this past Friday on the Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial. The monument is in the vest pocket park area between the North Dakota Firefighter’s Museum and Escape to Eden Salon and Spa.
While the monument is in place, work is far from complete. Officials with the N. D. Firefighter’s Museum said landscaping is planned, and three flagpoles will be added. Flags to be displayed include the U.S. flag, North Dakota flag and a firefighter flag.
The area will also be hand leveled and seeded to grass after the flagpoles are installed. The fallen firefighter committee will then decide if pavers should be installed so that people can walk up to read the pillars.
