New face coming to city hall

Garrison’s City Hall will soon have a new look.
At their meeting Monday night, city council members gave the final nod to refacing the front of the building.
Noting window leakage and damage increasing to the inside of the building, the council budgeted $30,000 this past fall for new windows and to reface the building.
Bids were secured, and Scherr Plastering & Drywall, Bismarck, is scheduled to do the construction. The finish will be stucco, and no local contractor does that type of exterior finish, city officials said. The council anticipates work beginning in the near future.
Water will flow to the Garrison Legion baseball field. Council members agreed to sell treated water to the Titans Baseball Board at cost. The price to treat water is $2.59 per 1,000 gallons. The field is on city property. Sewer fees will be at $5.75 per month.
In other business at the meeting, the council:
•Directed City Attorney Jim Wilson to draw up an ordinance outlining a beer and wine license for on sale only exclusively for the Cabernet Inn owners.
•Heard Sales and Use Tax recommendations: Garrison Parks and Rec. Department $5,000 for operating and maintenance expenses.
•Approved Games of Chance for the Baseball Board.
•Agreed to continue membership to the Friends of Lake Sakakawea.
•Reviewed Planning and Zoning recommendations: OK’d were for Dean and Donna Franklin (setback for a garage); Brad Lagge (setback variance for living quarters); Howard Matte (setback variance for a garage).
