New spring event planned

By CHERYL ODDEN

Shhh, it’s a secret – at least for the time being.

Mandi Britton, member of the Garrison Chamber of Commerce’s Trade Promotion Committee, told chamber members the committee is planning a new springtime event. Although few details were provided, she said the date would be March 20 – the first day of Spring. She also noted that the event would include competition among local businesses.

Reporting on another upcoming event, Darrin Sand announced that the Community Development Committee would be hosting a Spring cook-off April 5 at the City Auditorium. He said the theme of the cook-off will be 1969 and the key ingredient will be hamburger.

Speaking of hamburger, how about a juicy Totten Trail burger? During Monday’s chamber meeting, Totten Trail, under new ownership, was welcomed as a local business. Lisa Spletter, Totten Trail manager, accepted a "first dollar of profit" plaque from Marty Dahl, chamber president.

Spletter told chamber members that renovations of the business are continuing and that its current food service will expand to a full-menu restaurant in approximately a month. She said the restaurant will serve breakfast Thursday-Saturday. Also in the plans, Spletter said, is to add a gas station.
