No drop in the bucket

Water district receives $2+ million

By STU MERRY

Garrison Rural Water District customers should see better volume and stronger pressure at the faucet in the next couple years, thanks to a cost-share grant of more than $2 million.

The grant, from the North Dakota State Water Commission for $2,003,550, is through the revolving loan fund.

GRWD General Manager Marty Dahl welcomed the announcement, saying the grant will help the district add storage and booster pumps at both ends of the system.

"We also need to upgrade some pipe in order to fully use our new pumps at the water treatment plant," Dahl said.

The general manager said the district has struggled with volume issues for some time as the system was originally designed for 225 meters, it’s now grown to 668.
