McLean County has seen an increase in its population over the past 10 years, recent census figures stated.
Results from the 2020 census, which were released by the U.S. Census Bureau Thursday afternoon, shows that McLean County gained 809 residents, bringing the total population to 9,771 residents, a nine percent jump from the 2010 census.
North Dakota overall saw an uptick — an increase of 15.8 percent — in residents. Of the 54 counties in North Dakota, McLean County was one of 23 counties to see an increase in population. It was also the sixteenth highest populated county in North Dakota.
Overall, about 55 percent of residents in McLean County live within city limits, per the 2020 census. The remainder live in rural areas: about 15 percent live in organized townships while 29 percent live in unorganized townships.
