A restructuring of management within the Garrison Parks and Rec board will be moved up following the resignation of their assistant manager.
At the Parks and Rec meeting on Feb. 9, assistant manager Ramsey Crawford expressed his wish to resign from his position, effective March 15.
Crawford said that he intends to go back to school, something the Parks and Rec board said they would support.
“I’m not quitting because I’m mad,” he said. “I feel if I don’t, I’ll keep not quitting.”
In lieu of his review – which was scheduled on the agenda – the board voted to give him a $1,500 bonus, which was retroactively compensating him for additional work that he has done over the past few months. Crawford was pulling double duty: in addition to his duties as assistant manager, he also stepped in while his mother, Sandy Crawford, who serves as manager, was ill and performed a majority of her job duties as well. Currently, Sandy Crawford is working part time, necessitating the need for more help.
Ramsey Crawford’s resignation pushed the Parks and Rec board to follow through with earlier discussions of restructuring, including hiring additional supervisors who would be solely responsible for maintenance, pool and recreation.
