Picker’s Haven

Antique store moves into ‘selling mode’

Frank and Mike, be forewarned.
American Pickers was approached about the treasure trove of antiques in Coleharbor, but seeing is believing.
Although the doors of Tools of the Trade have been shuttered much of the past few years, there’s plenty to see now that Peggy and Jim Rask are getting the itch to sell more. An “Antiques” sign directs travels to an open garage door that is the gateway in many afternoons these days.
Inside is a mass of antiques and collectibles that will scratch the itch of many travelers.
For Monte and Diane Reiner of Minot, it was, “Look the door’s open,” they relayed as they searched through the thin aisles. As Monty met his match with a box that cascaded off a shelf, Peggy yelled, “You break it, you buy it.” The warning didn’t deter the couple from continuing to snake between boxes and piles, looking up and down to make sure they didn’t miss a hidden treasure.
For the Rasks, residents of Riverdale, antiquing started in the late 80s when Jim started collecting antique tools. He began with about 20 at a yard sale in Wisconsin and within a year he had more than 100. Today he has close to 5,000 woodworking planes.
