There will be a new police chief in Garrison and he promises fairness and engagement.
Travis Tesch will be the new police chief of Garrison in about a month.
Tesch was hired Saturday for $65,000 pending a successful background check.
The current chief of the Fessenden Police Department served more than 4 ½ years in that position and 20 years as a law enforcement officer in North Dakota.
He started his police career in Park River, before becoming a Wells County deputy. He returned to his hometown of Fessenden in 2015 where he enforces city ordinances along with state criminal and traffic laws, makes purchases for the department and maintains a budget.
In September Tesch was appointed to the Governor’s Prevention Advisory Council on Drugs and Alcohol. He is a member of the American Legion, after serving in the Army National Guard, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
