Redistrict plan splits Garrison, Max

Carved up like a Thanksgiving turkey.
That’s what McLean County could look like in regard to the latest proposed legislative redistricting lines for District 4 and District 8.
State lawmakers met this past week. They endorsed a new plan that will be presented to the Legislature when it convenes in special session the week of Nov. 7.
The new plan moves Garrison to District 8. It keeps Max in District 4.
Under the newest proposal, District 8 would go south and east along the Missouri River. Also going to District 8 will be St. Mary, Garrison, Snow, Malcolm, Greatstone and Andrews townships, as well as eastern and southern McLean County. It will include an area east of Bismarck and south of Interstate 94.
