Residents, supervisors battle over township roads

This spring’s flooding continues to cause stress on those affected by the aftermath. For those in Cameron Township, Ward County, matters came to a head in Douglas Monday morning. The special meeting between township supervisors and residents turned into a four-hour gripe session. The meeting was at the Douglas Senior Center.
Those in attendance maintain supervisors Ron Kramer, Bob Finken and Kyle Johnson aren’t doing enough. They also say supervisors aren’t listening to their ideas, or saying what is or has been done.
Supervisors counter, saying they are doing what they can, and that residents are circumventing their suggestions, doing what they please when it comes to road repairs. Both groups maintain communication by the other is lacking.
Kramer addressed concerns that it’s taking too long to get work underway, saying contractors are busy. Some areas deemed to be an emergency basis have been addressed. Some culverts have been replaced. Kramer shared that some work has been completed in spite of knowing there will be no reimbursement from FEMA or the state.
Edwin Olson, a Cameron Township resident, questioned how much was going to be completed.
