State officials, candidates comment on overturning of federal abortion protection

With the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade on June 24, North Dakota officials have responded with comments on the matter and its impact on the state. According to a law passed in 2007, the overturning of Roe V. Wade will trigger a statewide ban on abortion within North Dakota, with exceptions for sexual assualt and incest, or when a mother’s life is significantly at risk. The law is set to take effect within
30 days, after being signed by Governor Doug Burgum. Here’s what officials had to say:
