Rural home burglarized

By STU MERRY

McLean County authorities continue to search for leads into who is responsible for breaking into a rural Garrison home this past Friday.

The McLean County Sheriff’s Department was notified of the break-in at the Joe and Kathy Baber home at approximately 7 p.m. The rural home is about a mile north of Garrison on McLean County 15. Reported missing are three rifles, a TV, a Kindle and some old coins.

According to the sheriff’s department, Kathy Baber reported someone had broken into their residence when she arrived home from work. Entry was gained through a rear garage door. The time frame of the burglary is estimated between 5-7 p.m. There was no sign of forced entry. It was noted some things were out of place in the garage as if someone had rummaged through the items.

The department is hoping someone has seen something unusual on that date on what is a regularly traveled road, County 15.

McLean County Detective Sam Lincoln, one of those handling the case, reminds residents to always lock their homes and vehicles.
