GARRISON – Customers with Garrison Rural Water District will see an increase in their rates, starting Oct. 1. During their meeting on
Tuesday, the district board voted to increase water usage rates from $6 to $8 per 1,000 gallons of water used and increasing base rates from $50 and $60 to $62. All residential customers, as well as commercial customers with Base Charge 2, will be affected by the base rate increase. Commercial customers who pay a base rate of $75 will not be affected and their base rate will stay the same. The purpose for this raise is to help the Garrison Rural Water District cover the cost of a loan, which the board acquired to help pay their cost for the City of Garrison’s water treatment plant. “We’re taking on a million dollar loan,” said board vice president Steve Seidler at the meeting.
