Spaces open for commercial rentals

By JILL DENNING GACKLE
For the first time in two decades, Garrison has commercial property available to rent.
New buildings and changes for existing businesses opened up new locations.
Mike Matteson, local Realtor and Garrison Area Improvement Association board member, said, “It’s a great opportunity for expansion or new businesses.”
Eric Aldinger and Bobbi Jo Krueger built new office space with rental space adjoining. Fezziwig’s has an open office behind the store, Dennis Jeffrey has space available near the laundromat and there is space available next to Otter Tail Power. RTC moved from its location behind S&J Hardware and that property is now for sale.
GAIA Coordinator Lindsay Bofenkamp said there are a few other spaces that might available. Bofenkamp has contact information and insight into options.
GAIA lent a helping hand to the newest entrepreneur to dip her feet in the business pool, Diana Bertrand, who is opening a photography business across from the post office and next to Sittin’ Pretty Dog Salon.
The pet grooming business and Diana’s photography business are products of GAIA’s commitment to help entrepreneurs grow. The organization established a grant program to help entrepreneurs start a new business venture. The location is an incubator spot for a business to launch and grow into possibly another larger space in the future, Matteson explained.
