Study: Dickens generates $175,000 a day

Naysayers: hold on to your woolie socks.
The seven days of the Dickens Village Festival have a far greater impact on the economic vitality of Garrison than even the committee promoters realized.
The Dickens committee learned Monday evening that the festival generates an average of more than $175,000 a day or $1.2 million annually, based on 2,000 festival goers a day. A University of Mary survey also showed that business increased an average of 232 percent during the festival days.
University of Mary student and former Garrison resident Cody Friesz conducted the survey under the direction of business professor, Karel Sovak, at the request of the Dickens committee.
