Super Valu announces expansion

Super Valu announces expansion

By STU MERRY

There’s just no more room, and that’s why the owners and manager of Garrison’s Krause’s Super Valu are planning a major expansion project. The plan is for construction to begin this summer, if not sooner.
“It’s time to grow,” said store manager Shannon Staehr. “We’ve simply outgrown the existing building.”
The main reason to expand is to serve the customer’s needs. The size of the store will increase. The sales floor will expand by about 40 percent.
The 6,516-foot addition (50x130) will extend the structure to the east. The main entrance will face the south. Parking will be extended south to the frontage road, and to the west. Once complete, there will be parking for 91 vehicles. The parking area will feature new lighting. The exterior of the building will be refaced.
Inside, there will be three additional aisles. A number of departments will see their space expand dramatically. Produce will see an additional 36 feet. A full-service deli will be added, plus a 6-foot hot case. A slice-to-order meat and cheese case is also part of the plan.
