Teacher pay unresolved

Teacher pay unresolved

By JILL DENNING GACKLE

Garrison educators may not have a contract offer before the end of the school year, if the Garrison Education Association doesn’t accept the district’s most recent offer.
In a meeting Monday evening, the board offered a $2,100 increase to all teachers and a $33,000 starting base salary. After educators opted to not accept the offer because it gave smaller percentage increases to long-time teachers with larger increases to new and mid-range teachers, the board offered a 5.5 percent increase to all teachers. That offer was declined until the teacher’s union could be surveyed; the offer was contingent on GEA being willing to drop two points in their contracts.
