Teachers decide not to appeal

Garrison educators have decided to not appeal a recent court decision that allowed the district to issue contracts.
School superintendent Steve Brannan expressed relief and said the new school year will not have a black cloud over it.
GEA spokesperson Deb Youngs said teachers decided not to appeal the judge's decision because it didn't appear that the supreme court would be the best avenue. Instead, Youngs said the legislature may need to take up the issue of how negotiations are concluded.
Youngs said, "Most of us just want to get back to just focusing on education. It's the idea that it's a little bit more fun to not have that one worry still going on."
