After several special meetings, including 18 hours of executive session, two teachers at Garrisson Public School have been given contracts for the next school year, which they have both signed to return.
According to meeting minutes obtained through a public information request from Garrison Public School, the board of education held several special meetings between March and April to discuss the future employment of two teachers, Stacey Salhus and Stetson Pedersen.

According to the agenda for a special meeting held May 10, the board was to receive a recommendation “to contemplate the performance nonrenewal” of both Salhus’ and Pedersen’s teaching contracts.
During that discussion, board member John Crawford motioned, and John Kallberg supported to have a meeting March 25 to “contemplated nonrenewal of the current contract of Stacey Salhus for inability to maintain professionalism and/or inability to utilize sound judgement.” Additionally, Crawford and Kallberg requested a second special meeting March 30 to “contemplated nonrenewal of the current contract of Stetson Pedersen for inability to adequately manage his classroom, which negatively impacts effective learning and or inability to gain and maintain respect and trust of students and parents in order for effective learning to occur,” according to meeting minutes.
