COVID shot opened up to anyone currently employed

Educators and day care workers are lining up to get their coronavirus vaccine as state health officials make the shot available to working individuals.
Lori Brierley of First District Health Unit said teaches and staff members at day cares were made eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine last week, just before the vaccine was opened up to any person that is currently employed.
“We’ve extended into all of 1C, which includes essential workers and basically anyone who is working right now,” Brierley said.
Brierley said individuals between the ages of 18 and 64 with at least one qualifying medical condition are also eligible, even if they are unemployed.
Qualifying conditions include cancer, lung disease, pregnancy and other conditions that may put an individual at increased risk of having serious complications from COVID-19.
Teachers at Garrison Public Schools got in line Wednesday morning to get the first round of the vaccine, with staff members at both the high school and elementary school taking part in the on-site clinic.
Brierley said local vaccine clinics can be found by checking www.NDvax.org or by contacting First District Health Unit, but that anyone wanting a vaccine needs to register.
“They have to have an appointment regardless,” Brierley said of local vaccine drives. “We have to be able to coordinate the number of doses.”
