Dedication was this past Sunday

The cool temperature this past Sunday didn’t seem to affect a dedication ceremony and open house at Garrison’s new assisted living facility.
The event began with a hearty welcome from Don Gackle, chairman of Better Living for Garrison.
Even though the gathering was to celebrate the completion of The Meadows, an 18-unit assisted living center, Gackle honored past city leaders for developing a strong community with “excellent health care facilities.” Those facilities include two clinics, a hospital, a retirement home, a nursing home and low-cost housing for the elderly.
“But one thing has been missing,” Gackle said, “A facility that would offer assisted living in relatively large, comfortable apartments.
“That’s what we’re here to celebrate today … The Meadows, an attractive and fine complex of 18 apartments …” He added, “Everything is provided at the lowest possible cost because of people of this community who contributed more than $525,000. Thank you, thank you for that generous gift.”
Gackle explained that The Meadows was the pilot project for BLFG, a non-profit organization that operates similar to a community foundation.
After Gackle introduced special guests, those who played a key role in construction of The Meadows, the project was blessed by Rev. Don Barsness.
Special guests included Wayne Stroup, project supporter; Mark Meyer, construction site manager, Kevin Greff, Benedictine Living Communities, Bismarck; Dave Mason, American Bank Center; Bruce Schreiner, Garrison State Bank & Trust officer, and Teresa Peterson, manager of The Meadows. Other key personnel that were introduced were board members from BLFG: Jude Iverson, secretary; Richard Lehnherr, vice-president; and directors Dave Reinarts, Ron Krebsbach, Steve Brannan and Scott Foss.
